Friday Family Funnies - "The Lord's Supper"

We are having The Lord's Supper at church on Sunday and it reminded me of this week's Friday Family Funny:

The first time that Samuel was to participate in The Lord's Supper at church after he had become and Christian and been baptized, he was so excited. We had talked about the meaning of The Lord's Supper and how to prepare for it and and he had been looking forward to it all week long. He took The Lord's Supper and said nothing. On the way home, he ask "Mommy what are we having for lunch because I'm still hungry?" I told him, but ask "What do you mean, you are still hungry - did you have a snack in Sunday School?" He replied "I'm still hungry from The Lord's Supper - all we had was that little piece of bread and juice"

Christmas In Action

Travis worked Saturday with a group from the church with Christmas In Action. They worked to repair the house of a very sweet lady, Ms. Smith, who at the end of the day said she could not wait to sit on her front porch and drink tea.

The kids and I did get to help by delievering lunch to the team.

Thankful!

Most of our Friday Families Funnies will be coming from Samuel. He is always saying something that cracks us up. But, today I was reminded again of how precious he is to me.

As I pulled into the parking lot at his school this afternoon I was followed by four police cars and the police telling everyone to stay in their cars and the school was in "lock-down". I cannot explain the sick feeling that came over me. All that I could think about was my son in that school. After a couple of minutes (which seemed like an eternity) another police office pulled up and I ask him what was going on, he was nice enough to assure me all the children were fine, but something had gone on with a man and women. Still, the school was in "lock-down" but, in just a few moments there he was - MY SON! What a feeling of joy and thankfulness! I praise God this afternoon for keeping Samuel safe. He's growing up so fast and I thank God for reminding me how precious he is to me and what a blessing and task God has given to me by giving me Samuel (and Hannah Grace and Faith).

Friday Family Funnies - "The Vampire State Building"

Today's Friday Family Funny comes from Samuel again, it is one of Grammy's favorites.

Samuel was traveling with Grammy and Big Daddy through Atlanta. As they were heading towards downtown, Samuel was amazed with all the big tall buildings. He saw one very tall building and ask his Grammy: "Grammy is that the Vampire State Building"

Have a great week-end!

p.s. Thanks for the prayers for Travis and I last night during the VBS Clinic. Everything went great and I think that Spartanburg County is ready and excited to share Jesus through VBS this summer. I will try to post some pictures later.

Busy Two Days

Travis and I are the VBS Directors for the Spartanburg County Baptist Network. The Network clinic is tomorrow night; at the clinic we have classes for each of the different sites (crafts, music, etc.). So, we have two busy days. Please pray for us and all the teacher as we make final preparations for tomorrow night. Pray that each person who attends the clinic will leave with an excitement and readiness to teach children about God's love and salvation. Thank You!

Visit to the Doctor

Well, Hannah Grace, Faith and I just returned from the Doctor's office to retrieve part of Instant Easter from Faith's NOSE!

Last night as she was sitting in her car seat, she starting screaming about her nose hurting. She had been playing with lip gloss that someone at church had given her and we thought that she had put some of that up her nose. Her nose ran last night, but I thought it was irritated from the lip gloss. When she woke up this morning very stuffy, I decided to take a look in her nose. Sure enough there it was - a piece of green Easter Bunny (as seen above) in her nose. After many tries of blowing, I gave in and called the Doctor. Still in the Doctor's office we tired to blow and sneeze - anything we could, but no luck.

The Doctor came in and looked up her nose and said "Yep, there something up her nose". I thought to my self, "Really? Do you need a degree to know that?" Anyway, you have to know our doctor he is great, but a little strange - he put on his head lamp (yes, a head lamp) and pulled a piece of green sponge about the size of a dime out of Faith's nose.

If you can believe it - Faith never cried, she laid there and talked to us. Which is scary because, we are not sure if she has learned her lesson yet.

This is not the first time she has put something up her nose. There has been a popcorn kernel, a piece of popcorn and paper.

Hannah Grace started it all when she put a popcorn kernel in her nose at an Upward Training Session in Atlanta. But, she told me today, "I learned my lesson".

Have a great day!

p.s. I went back and read about Instant Easter, this is what it says -

A watery Easter activity

-drop these capsules in warm water, slosh a bit, and out pops Easter fun

Easter Egg Hunt

After our celebration at church we headed to Stephen and Dee's house for lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt. Nanny used to always hide Easter eggs with money in them and Dee carried on this tradition - Nanny would be proud!

Samuel, Hannah Grace, and Faith with their cousins Tanner, Luke and Emma

Wonderful Easter

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We did! Our (Travis and Samuel) day started early with the "Son"rise service at church. They had the biggest crowd they had ever had, Praise the Lord!

The girls and I arrived at church to eat breakfast and then to take pictures. Faith was not in the picture taking mood.
She hung onto her Aunt Cindy most of the morning.

Hannah Grace and Samuel were ready to take their pictures.

I am so blessed to have wonderful kids and a wonderful husband!

We had given up on getting a picture of Faith and headed on into to church, where we finally got a picture, and I love it!

Happy Resurrection Day!

He is not here, but is risen! Luke 24:6

We had an Easter Egg Hunt at church yesterday and the kids had a great time. We can't wait to show you pictures from our Easter Egg Hunt at
Dee's house today!

We don't do the Easter Bunny, but we do give Easter gifts; and we gave them to the kids on Saturday night because of our early morning schedule for this morning. They all loved their chocolate bunny!

A Work In Progress

On Friday, Mama and Eddie came up on their day off to help us with our front yard and sidewalk. We thank them so much for the help. It isn't finished yet, but it already looks better.

The kids had a great time, Hannah Grace just wanted to help and Faith is calling it her sandbox.

We can't wait to show you the finished product!

Friday Family Funnies

Our first Family Funny comes from Samuel:

While in Kentucky, Samuel had a conversation with Granny Hill about an article that she had read in Time Magazine about global warming, Samuel had also been talking about it in school.

Well, Thursday night after all the kids were in bed. We got a knock on our door. Samuel came in crying and said he was scared. As most of you know, we have had some pretty tramatic past months and we expected him to say he had had a bad dream or something like that. We asked him why he was crying and what was the matter, he responded - "I'm afraid of The Global Warming".

After we composed our laughter, we did reassure him that God had promised that he would not flood the whole earth again (Genesis 8:21) and he headed back to bed.

Coming Tomorrow

Be sure to come back tomorrow for "Friday Family Funnies". These will be funny things that our family (mostly Samuel) has said or done. If you have a Family Funny that you would like to share, please e-mail me and we will post it one Friday.

Have a great Thursday!

Like Uncle Like Nephew

Uncle Travis and Baby Seth

Our nephew, Seth, came to stay with us for a little while this morning and he had on the cutest outfit.

Hannah Grace thought that Seth needed to hear a Bible Story.

And then Seth was ready for story time to be over!

Heading Home, Day 4

We headed home from Kentucky on Thursday. We made a stop in Somerset to have breakfast with Grandmom and Grandpop and Aunt Jean and Uncle William. Grandmom surprised us all by arranging for Uncle Arnold and Aunt Earlene and my cousin Paula and her kids, that I hadn't seen in about six years. We all had a great time and it was wonderful to visit with everyone.

So that's our trip to Kentucky, back to reality!

Day 3, Sparks Family Adventures

Please don't get used to two post in one day, but as I told Travis a little bit ago, "I'm still on vacation."

On Wednesday, our first thought was to go to The Kentucky Horse Park, but after looking at the prices we did not think it was worth it for our family of five. So, we headed out to visit Shaker Village. But, when we got there, it was also too expensive for our size family.

They did have a pond (where we think the ducks are used to being fed) we played at for a little bit.

Here is Faith chasing the ducks...

and here are the ducks chasing Faith.
After we left the pond, we just headed to Lexington to see what we could find to do. What we found was a great, fun, affordable place to take our family. We ended up at Explorium of Lexington. This is an interactive children's musem. All three kids had a great time.

Faith and Samuel "on the moon"

Hannah Grace "playing" the piano

It's a little questionable if Travis had a good time or not?!

After our fun day in Lexington, we were treated to a wonderful meal at my brother's, Micheal, house with him, my sister-in-law, Betsy, and their two boys, Christian and Matthew along with Mammy and Popeye.

Busy At Granny Hill's, Day 2, continued

On Tuesday afternoon of our visit to Kentucky we went to visit my Granny Hill and help her in her yard a little.
Faith worked so hard, she took every step that Mammy took

Hannah Grace worked a little and ...

then she picked a few flowers and then...

she had had enough!

Samuel and Daddy were helping his Popeye fix Granny's lawn mower.

(Sorry, no pictures of that)
