Friday Family Funnies - Christmas Turkey

A couple of weeks ago I sat down with the girls and ask them to tell me how they would cook at Christmas Turkey:

How to Cook a Christmas Turkey
by
Hannah Grace and Faith Sparks

You will need:
Turkey
2 cups water
3 eggs
5 cups flour
4 apples, cut-up
7 carrots, cut-up
6 tomatoes, cut-up

First, put eggs, flour and water in bowl and stir. After you stir this up, put apples, carrots, and tomatoes in a pot with mixture. Pour over turkey and put turkey in over, that's not too hot, or the microwave. Cook for six minutes. Let cool. Then it's Yummy!

For a treat that is "yummy" head on over to Kristi's friend Emily's blog for a Pumpkin Cobbler recipe. I made it last night for Travis (I don't really like pumpkin) and he said it was great. All you Upward folks reading, he brought it to share today!

Cool Runnings

Apparently, I forgot to tell you about the most important thing about our week in Kentucky yesterday, according to my husband - a football game.

Last Friday night, Travis, Samuel, and Marc Andre braved 24 degree weather to watch Lincoln County High School play in a play-off game. Marc Andre had never been a United State Football game, so what better way to introduce him to it in freezing cold weather. Travis said it was like the movie Cool Runnings - all you could see out from under his five layers of clothing was his eyes.

Besides being cold, they had a great time - the girls and I were in a warm house in our warm PJ's!

A Week in Kentucky

Last week we spent the week in Kentucky. We had planned on leaving last Wednesday and spending the Thanksgiving Holidays with family, but I had a dear Aunt, Treva Hill, who went home to be with the Lord on November 16th, so began our trip a few days early. Aunt Treva had had a long battle with cancer. Please pray for my Uncle Robbie, her husband, and their daughter, Robyn and her family and their son, Greg and is family during this Christmas season.

Samuel stayed with Big Daddy and Grammy for a few days to be at school and then rode with Memama and Granddaddy and Aunt Kendra and joined us on Wednesday.
After we picked up him, we went to visit my Granny Hill. She was raking leave and the kids had a great time "helping" her.

Although, I don't know who had more fun.

On Thanksgiving Day, Travis, Granddaddy, and Samuel head to the airport to pick up Marc Andre who needed a break from college life.

Here are the girls in their collar's they made at school for our "Thanksgiving Feast"

Once Marc Andrea had landed we headed up to my Aunt and Uncle's beautiful new home for lunch.

On Friday, we enjoyed a fun day of shopping - that began at 4:30am!

As the years have passed and because there are many family members to visit with I have lost touch with many friends, but because of the funeral and other situations I was able to see a few "old friends", and it was great. I was able to meet their children and wives and husbands - it was so fun!

So we had a great time of Thanksgiving and are back at school and work and looking forward to the season to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Friday Family Funnies - Santa Knows

The other day we were riding in the van and I was talking with the girls about what they might want for Christmas. Hannah Grace told me she wanted a Princess TV, a bouncy ball, and a Doddle Bear - no problem I can handle all that. Faith said she wanted a Princess TV, a Doddle Bear, and a "that Tinker Bell twirly thing" - Princess TV, taken care of; Doddle Bear, will be taken care of; "Tinker Bell twirly thing", I'm not sure of. I ask her to explain to me what that was, because I wasn't sure what is was. She quickly replied, "It doesn't matter Mommy, I'm not asking you for it, I'm asking Santa!"

Thank goodness, "Santa" has since then figured out what a "Tinker Bell twirly thing" is, but is not sure if he is going to be able to find it. It is something she saw at the Disney Outlet store in Jonesville back in June - but Santa is looking.

Have a great week-end!

*This picture is one of my favorite Christmas pictures of the kids. I love the way Faith is looking at Santa and how he is talking to her. The picture was taken in 2004.

God is Good To Us!

For all you faithful readers (ha! ha!) I'm sorry there was no Friday Family Funny this past Friday, I had a very busy day and didn't get around to it. Funnies will resume this coming Friday.

Back in September I shared much with you and that our family would be looking for a new church home, somewhere where we could worship and be used. We are very excited to tell you that the Lord has led us to New Prospect Baptist Church. The Lord is so good to us! Since the first time we visited there we have all felt at home, seen God working and have loved it. After the first couple of visits, I kept telling Travis I can't believe how well all of us seem to fit in and how we just feel "at home" and then the Lord reminded me that I had prayed that He would show us where to go quickly because I didn't want to drag our kids from church to church to church; He had answered my prayers, again!
Samuel has made friends very quickly - the Youth Minister and Music Minister both have ten year old boys (again, isn't God good?!) The Music Minister also has twin 4-year-old boys that Faith has enjoyed playing with. Hannah Grace is loving going to class and both of them loved Preschool choir on Sunday evening and will be singing in church this coming Sunday morning. Travis and I will be joining the choir on Wednesday evening and we are looking forward to singing in a choir again. My heart is just overflowing with excited at what the Lord has done for our family and how is going to use us.
The Sunday School class that we have been attending had a family night at Lee's Dairy Farm. We had been to Lee's before about 4 years ago, Faith wasn't even walking yet, and then we had the privilege to get to know Robert and Janey Lee while we were at Landrum First Baptist a couple of years ago; their son and his family go to New Prospect.

We had a great time of fellowship and the kids had a wonderful time!

After a soup supper we all went on a hayride to a bonfire to make smores.

Faith loved the marshmallows! If you look closely this on is still on fire...

I didn't leave pictures of Samuel out on purpose, I just don't have any. I couldn't pull him away from playing with his new friends.

Thank you to all those who have been praying for us, we so blessed that God has led to New Prospect. When God brings us to your mind you can now pray that we would continue to listen to Him and serve Him in the ministries He has planned for us.

Enjoying Fall

We are enjoying the beautiful Fall weather that God has given us over the past few days. Every time Faith sees a leaf fall, and yesterday with the wind that was a lot, she saids, "Look Mommy, look - Fall is here!"
Seth is enjoying it too, even if the girls and dumping leaving on top of him...

1...2...3...JUMP!

Now, last night felt more like winter than fall; it was very cold cheering Bubba on at football.

True fans.

Happy Birthday Memama!

A couple of week-end ago we went up and spent the day and night with Memama, Granddaddy, and Aunt Kendra to celebrate Memama's birthday.

On that Saturday afternoon we spent the afternoon with Aunt Kendra. I can't show you picture of the afternoon (shhh..it's a secret), but I can show part of a picture.

The girls always have a great time taking a bath and Memama's and Granddaddy's!

That Sunday afternoon, Travis spoke at a Upward Kick-off meeting. I am so proud of the work that he does. He loves his job...most days!

Friday Family Funnies - John The Baptist

The other day we were working on our Bible verse for Awana, Hannah Grace was telling me and she said:

Through Him all things were made.
John The Baptist 1:3.

Have a great week-end and don't forget to change your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night.

(The picture of Hannah Grace was taken on "Hilarious Hat Day" at school.)

Mermaids, Pirates, and Dorothy, Oh My!

Captain Samuel
We went "Trick-n-Treating" at Aunt Cindy's
"Lexi, your too big, but Itty Bitty, do you want to come be Toto with Hannah Grace?"
By the time we got to church, Hannah Grace had had enough of being dressed-up. I ask her what was wrong and she said, "They wanted me to eat my doughnut and I didn't want to and there were just too many people."
She perked up and we had a great time out with Grammy and Big Daddy for his birthday.

We all had fun, but we are glad they day is over!
